SAT Score Calculator
On the digital SAT, raw counts become section scores of 200–800. Enter how many questions you answered correctly in each section for an estimated section and total score. Because the real test is adaptive and equated per form, treat this as a planning estimate — the method and its limits are explained below.

Assumptions: ESTIMATE: uses a linear raw-to-scale approximation. Official digital SAT scores are produced by adaptive equating and cannot be derived exactly from raw counts.
Formula
How to use this calculator
- Count your correct answers in Reading & Writing (54 questions total).
- Count your correct answers in Math (44 questions total).
- Press Calculate for the estimated section scores and total.
Worked example
40 of 54 Reading & Writing and 35 of 44 Math correct.
- RW: 200 + (40 ÷ 54) × 600 ≈ 644 → rounds to 640.
- Math: 200 + (35 ÷ 44) × 600 ≈ 677 → rounds to 680.
Result: Estimated total: 1320 (640 + 680).
Frequently asked questions
Why is this only an estimate?
The digital SAT is adaptive: your second module’s difficulty depends on your first module, and scores are equated across forms. Two students with identical raw counts can receive different scores. No calculator can reproduce the official conversion.
What is a good SAT score?
It depends on the colleges you are targeting. The national average hovers around 1030–1050 in recent years; selective schools often see 1400+. Check each college’s published middle-50% range.
Is there a penalty for guessing?
No — wrong answers and blanks count the same (zero), so answering every question is always at least as good as leaving it blank.
