Milliliters to Grams Converter

Milliliters measure volume and grams measure mass; density is the bridge, and only water crosses at exactly 1:1. Pick your substance and convert either way with its real density.

Formula

One multiplication by density:
Grams = Milliliters × Density (g/mL)  ·  Milliliters = Grams ÷ Density
The density used is printed with every result.

How to use this calculator

  1. Choose the direction.
  2. Enter the amount and select the substance.
  3. Press Calculate — the exact density used is shown in the notes.

Worked example

250 milliliters of honey, density 1.42 g/mL.

  1. 250 × 1.42 = 355.

Result: 250 mL of honey weighs about 355 grams — much heavier than the same volume of water.

Frequently asked questions

Why is flour’s density so low and variable?

Flour is mostly trapped air. Spooned flour is about 0.52 g/mL; scooped and packed flour can reach 0.6+. That swing is why baking by weight is more reliable than by volume.

Does temperature change the result?

Slightly — liquids expand as they warm, lowering density. Water is 1.00 g/mL near 4°C and about 0.997 at room temperature; the difference rarely matters outside a lab.

Can I convert milliliters of any liquid this way?

Only if you know its density. The list covers common kitchen and household liquids; for others, density (specific gravity) is usually printed on the product data sheet.
