Formula
How to use this calculator

- Enter the annual dividend per share — most quote sites list this.
- Enter the current share price, then Calculate.
Worked example
100 shares paying $2.40 a year each, priced at $50.
- Annual income: 100 × $2.40 = $240.
- Quarterly: $60; monthly average: $20.
- Yield: 2.40 ÷ 50 = 4.8%.
Result: The position pays about $240 a year at a 4.8% yield.
Frequently asked questions
Are dividends paid monthly?
Most US companies pay quarterly; some REITs and funds pay monthly. The “per month” figure here is the annual income averaged across 12 months.
What does dividend yield tell me?
How much income each dollar invested generates at today’s price. A very high yield can signal a falling share price rather than generosity — context matters.
Are dividends guaranteed?
No. Companies can raise, cut or suspend dividends at any time. This calculator projects the current rate forward unchanged.
